At Howdy Homemade We Are All About Two Things

 Ice Cream Served To Our Communities By AMAZING People!  

The Howdy Homemade Charitable Foundation was created for one purpose.  To create jobs for amazing people with (IDD) intellectual and developmental disabilities. The 2021 National Core Indicators survey found only 16% of working-age adults supported by state IDD agencies were employed in a paid job in their community. 

Many of those who were employed worked limited hours at low wages. Howdy is on a mission to change that. 

Our Foundation is the natural extension of the mission of our Founder Tom Landis. Tom created Howdy Homemade Ice Cream with the intent of developing a successful business that employs people “Heroes” as we call them, with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

Since opening his first scoop shop in Dallas, TX, the Howdy brand has opened several franchised locations, each creating meaningful new jobs for people in the IDD community. 

The Howdy Homemade Charitable Foundation was established as a 501(C)(3) in June of 2023 and all contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowable by law.

Being employed provides structure, confidence, and a sense of pride for those with special needs. Equality is essential for neurodiverse individuals and their families. 

Our Scoop Shop owners consistently follow the Howdy Mission to create more jobs, cultivate leadership skills and provide advancement opportunities for people with IDDs.
